Dean is a frequent speaker at events such as the La Jolla Writer’s Conference, the Mount Hermon Writer’s Conference, the Festival of Faith and Writing at Calvin College, the Society of American Travel Writers annual convention, and at various writer’s events around the world. He has led writer’s workshops in India, Africa, Iceland and throughout the United States.
In 2010, Dean was asked to give the PLNU commencement address. It quickly turned unusual.
